Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Liverpool on Renshaw Street, UNI stands as a cherished Indian dining destination with a rich legacy spanning over four decades. This cozy eatery effortlessly blends traditional charm with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes every visit feel like coming home.

The culinary experience at UNI is a delightful journey through classic Indian flavors, crafted with a perfect balance of freshness and authenticity. Begin your meal with simple yet satisfying starters such as the crisp Plain Poppadum or its spiced counterpart, paired with a tangy Chutney Tray that awakens your palate. For those craving smoky, richly marinated bites, the Tandoori & Shashlik Sizzlers section offers crowd-pleasers like the tender Chicken Tikka, succulent Chicken Tandoori, and the indulgent King Prawn Tikka. Don’t miss the Special Mixed Grill, a masterpiece that delivers layers of flavor in every bite.

Complement your mains with a variety of freshly baked Indian breads including the irresistibly garlicky Garlic Naan or the subtly sweet and nutty Peshwari Naan. For rice lovers, options like Chapati and fluffy biryani dishes create a well-rounded meal. The menu showcases not only the depth and diversity of Indian cuisine but UNI’s commitment to quality over quantity — no over-greased, heavy dishes here, just vibrant, well-spiced meals that celebrate the art of Indian cooking.

The dining atmosphere enhances the experience — a blend of nostalgic décor that speaks to its decades-long history, combined with comfortable individual booths adorned with privacy curtains. This creates an intimate setting perfect for anything from quiet dinners to lively gatherings. Guests consistently praise the friendly, attentive staff, whose warmth and genuine hospitality elevate every visit.

Regulars like Jay Wood have made UNI their go-to spot for almost three decades, highlighting the consistency and heartfelt service they receive. Whether you’re savoring a fiery Lamb Naga or the classic Chicken Tikka Masala, it’s clear that each dish is thoughtfully prepared to showcase authentic tastes without being overwhelming or bland.

UNI isn’t just a meal; it’s a culinary embrace that leaves you feeling satisfied and eager to return. For those seeking an authentic Indian experience in Liverpool, this treasured institution promises flavorful dishes, a welcoming ambiance, and a genuine connection to the city’s rich dining scene.

Lovely staff and nice interior. We ordered the tandoori chicken, chicken tikka jalfrezi, pilau rice, garlic naan and veg samosas. Veg samosas and jalfrezi were great. The tandoori chicken lacked slightly in flavour but was still good. Nice little place to eat food. Would come back !

A Liverpool institution that’s been on Renshaw street for 40+ years. The interior and decor likely hasn’t changed but that adds to its charm. Fresh, flavorful food. Not too oily/greasy and not over-faced with massive portions. Quality over quantity! We had the Lamb Naga, Chicken Madras and Chicken tikka masala

What a lovely gem of a restaurant. It’s really nice and the little individual eating nooks with curtains for privacy are great. Staff very welcoming and the food excellent.

Absolutely love it here, booths have had a refresh as well. Whenever we go we pick something different, and every time it's been great. Meals are tasty unlike some other restaurants which can be bland with the creamy dishes. All dishes taste completely different, not samey like most places. Highly recommend!

Top tier Indian restaurant! The biggest Sheek Kebab I’ve been served at any Indian. Both our mains were super! Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great! The owner/manager recommended the Lamb Madras which was spot on!

It's been a longggg time since I last ate here, I didn't even know it was still open So one Saturday evening we fancied a Curry and being near Bold Street (and not wanting anything too posh like a Mowgli) this popped up on a quick Google search Going in brought back memories as it hasn't changed , it still has the little private Cubicles to dine in (which are actually miles better than Open Plan dining ). Service was quick and friendly, the menu has loads to choose from and includes all the classic 'Curry favourites' which was great The Starters were excellent, not sure how they did it but the Onion Bhaji was stunningly good as too was the Fish Tikka. The Mains were nice too, apart from the Naz's Special which my son wasn't that keen on Overall it was a nice meal, the Bill was pretty reasonable too Definitely worth a visit if you fancy a good Curry, I'll be back (and I won't be leaving it so long next time )
